Directing Process Drawings: Actor’s Nightmare

One of my biggest passions with visual and performing arts is finding ways that they relate. When I directed “The Actor’s Nightmare” in the fall of 2022 at Calvin University I found this to be the perfect opportunity to explore the overlap. These four abstract type drawings are derived from the four plays and their four distinct theatrical styles( A Man for All Seasons, Samuel Beckett plays, Hamlet, and Noel Coward platys). I took a line from each style and designed the type studies are based on how the actor delivered the line.
